Introducing Francesca Williams.

Meet Fran Williams who recently started at Designs as a Personal Assistant to the Directors and Senior Leadership Team. We had a chat with Fran about her career to date, and what has led her to becoming a Personal Assistant at Designs.

Starting her career in retail 7 years ago, Fran worked within interior design where she got to use her creative side to assist customers with making home interior choices. 

Towards the end of this role she took on more administrative tasks to assist the shop manager and this is when Fran realised she wanted to go down the Office and Administration route for a career. It wasn't long after starting looking for office based roles Fran was successful in getting an apprenticeship with a local recruitment firm in Business Administration. 

From here Fran developed her role quickly and added to her skills set Administration, Accounting and Office/ Personal Assistant management. After 4 years assisting colleagues within the busy, fast paced world of recruitment, she decided that her next move would be to step away from accounting and go down the Personal Assistant route.

Fran noticed that Designs were busy recruiting earlier in the year across a wide variety of roles. Fran knew a couple of people already at Designs and approached Rob to see if there were any roles that would be suitable for her skill set.  After a few discussions with Rob over a short time period Fran was offered the newly created position of Personal Assistant.

Having been with the company a couple of months now Fran is proving a huge asset to the team, with a plethora of knowledge and experience which is really helping the Directors. It's not only the Directors benefiting from Frans experience and enthusiasm, she is helping the Senior Leadership Team by directly supporting them as they look to grow the business.

We caught up with Fran and asked her about her time with the company already and what she is enjoying.

“I’m really enjoying my time at Designs so far. It has been great to start something new and build a new career. It is different from my previous roles as I have spent the past few years working mainly on the accounting side of my skills set however, Administration and Personal Assistant duties are where I feel I really flourish.

I would say one of my key qualities is being a total perfectionist which is important within the Personal Assistant role. Having an eye for detail stems back from my time working with interiors and I’ve built on that over the years and adapted it to the office environment. I’m going to be mainly assisting the Directors and Senior Leadership Team so they can continue to drive the business forward. I have joined at a really busy time as there is lots going on which excites me.

I am most looking forward to using my experience to enhance some current projects within the team and seeing how these develop over time. Also building good relationships with the team so they trust that I can assist in strengthening the work they do. ”

Away from work Fran is a keen baker, although we’re yet to see the benefits of this at Designs headquarters! She promises it won’t be too long until we do.
